Clear Mucus-Phlegm in Respiratory Tract
When the body fights viruses, bacteria or even has allergies, it produces a significant amount amount of mucus and phlegm. Mucus is more commonly seen in the nose and sinuses. Phlegm is more commonly seen in the throat and lungs. But the bottom line is we have a hard time breathing, we get congested, we have difficulty getting oxygen into our lungs, so our cells are starving.
So our body then has to continue to overwork the muscles within the chest and rib region. Those intercostal muscles are trying to open up so we can get more oxygen to our lungs. And we’re coughing and sneezing and having a hard time breathing. We can’t even sleep.
This vicious cycle can really weaken our system. And having mucus in the body is completely normal and necessary. It protects the tissue that lines your lungs, throat, nasal and sinus passages and keeps them from drying out. Mucus contains antibodies and enzymes designed to kill or neutralize harmful bacteria in the air. Think of it as a line of defense that keeps us from getting sick.
But when we have excessive mucus and excessive phlegm, it definitely will make us miserable. So I’d like to share with you a very exciting elixir that’s not only going to help dissolve and get rid of that excess flatin mucus, it’s going to allow you to breathe better, feel better and sleep better. Chamomile flowers contain specific flavonoids that have soothing properties.
So if you have a cold, a cough or a sore throat, chamomile tea helps it decrease inflammation and reduces that pain. And chamomile tea helps work as a mucolytic. It helps dissolve and release that excessive phlegm mucus.
It can also work as a cough suppressant. Chamomile is known for its sleepinducing properties due to its phytonutrient content, specifically a compound called epigenin, which has sedative effects. An extra virgin olive oil has great anti flam benefits.
Olive oil is rich in mono and polyunsaturated fats and phytonutrients, which plays a big role in promoting your lung health. Extra virgin olive oil is rich in vitamin E. It helps reduce the risk of upper respiratory infections. Its antioxidant properties will improve lung health and airway support.
The unsaturated fats and olive oil contain olorapine, a substance that fights inflammation in your body, as it will also help soothe the earwaves and prevent overproduction of mucus. And there’s nothing like thyme. It has antispasmodic mucus clearing and antibacterial actions.
And time will work as a mucous expelling expectorant it will help the body get rid of that excess mucus and flam. And it’s extremely effective in most respiratory problems. And honey has powerful antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Honey is also effective in breaking up mucus and it can do wonderful things for upper respiratory infections.
Honey is also known to help sore throats and is an excellent cough suppressant. So here’s what you need to do. You’re going to get one cup of hot boiling water, approximately 12oz. You’re going to put your chamomile tea in there, as well as one quarter to one half teaspoon of ground thyme. You’re then going to take one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and mix it around.
Let it steep about seven or eight minutes. Then you’ll put a few drizzles of honey on it and you’re ready to go. And you definitely want to drink this first thing in the morning, preferably in an empty stomach, so that synergistic activity of these herbs can go to work to start dissolving that flammam mucus throughout your body so you can feel much better.
But you can also drink this about an hour before you go to bed. As your cortisol levels start to come down, drinking that chamomile tea will have an effect on those neurotransmitters in the brain that will get you to sleep.
So as you sleep more deeply, your body can go to work removing even more mucous. So when you wake up, hopefully you’re going to feel so much better. I hope this video serves you well. Please share this with your friends and family. And most important, make it a great day. I’m Dr. Alan Mandel.
